For all wondering how I did it: I took no photo all day, because I had so much work, and so I had my creative side to kick in,… the set up was quite easy and done in a couple of minutes. I used a brochure I found in the pile of old papers (thicker, shiny papier). I bent in some single pages, and some I bent together to make this irregular structure.
I used a Tripod (because I thought I would use a slower shutter speed, which was a false idea), white background and diffused back- and surround-light. I had the camera settings on b&w, enhanced the contrast, and turned a bit on the white balance. Focussed on the front edge. Aperture: 2.8, Exposure: 1/320. That's it. So there was not a lot of PS processing (enhancing the contrast a bit more and smothed the vignette shadow a bit).
Here you see how the brochure looks like, in a normal front light pic. As allways in photography: It's all about light and shadow.
That is very smart to use different amounts of papers for the folds! creates a very cool pattern! thank you for sharing how you achieved that gorgeous shot!
Thank you for posting how you did this. Your end result was awesome! I will definitely give this a try when winter kicks in, that said i am not scared of winter and love getting out and about when others do not want to.
Thank you so much for sharing the steps to get to that fabulous image!! You must have visualized how it was going to turn out, and started with the end in mind, and you really achieved it! One question, though, when you say diffused back and surround light, did you use auxiliary lights, or was it just the ambient light in the room?
@panthora Hi Osia, sorry for responding so late,... I was with my family away fro the weekend. True I had something in my mind, doing this little project at the end of a long work day. But I must confess, that I had a result I really liked, but it was not exactely what I had in mind. In my photography there is a lot of try and error. And sometimes I have a result, that is even a bit better then my idea. (But this is a rare case).
It was late, dark night, when this shot was taken, and it was all artificial light, from different auxiliary lamps.
