Some sort of Apiaceae, formerly called Umbelliferae (from Umbrella-like) against the water of our lake with the setting sun.
The flowers in this family are all umbels, an umbrella-like cluster of flowers with where all the stems radiate from a common point, forming a false flower. The name Apiaceae reflects the origin in the Latin word for celery, apium. Some will still call this the Carrot family, which it is. Most members are aromatic herbs like anise, dill, coriander, cumin or are widely used as vegetables like parsley, carrot, celery, and fennel. Some of these are also known as medical plants. But there are also many species of the Apiaceae that are poisonous or photo-toxic.
I like especially the showy, sterile flowers at the outer ring of the umbel. They remind me always of little people hanging around.
