We have been rewarded with two wonderful days, with great hikes in the Bernese Alpes. But we endured also two extreme cold nights (around freezing +/- 0°C / 32°F), in our old VW Camper. Glad I had the winter sleeping bag with me, but I felt still pretty cold.
From left to right: Eiger (good to see the famous north face), Mönch and Jungfrau. Between Mönch and Jungfrau is the Jungfraujoch – “Top of Europe”. The tiny peak you see there is the highest railway station in Europe. It is located 3,454 metres above sea level. Explanation here: http://365project.org/mona65/2015-plan-b-alb/2015-10-31
Here you see a picture how I normally post this trisome. With a tele-lense from my balcony: http://365project.org/mona65/365/2015-08-03 . They look totally different, from a different direction and if you are by yourself at nearly 2000 meters altitude.
@mona65 Absolutely stunning Mona and thanks so much for sharing. The day we were there, the weather was just like this - in the morning anyway. It is the most fantastic place imaginable. How many Favs can I give it
Great photo. I've been up to the top on that train and then walked the glacier to the restaurant on the next peak. Fantastic views from up there but not so easy to breathe as its so high. Well worth the trip though!
Beautiful Alps scenery Mona! It's great you had such great weather for it... Despite the cold nights (that's always tough!)... Love that you included your usual view of it!
@shepherdmanswife That's exactly the trip walk we did 11 Years ago Chantal. We were gobschmacked by it all. Coming from Brisbane, it does not take much snow to gobschmack us though.
