Today it was hubby M’s turn to plan and schedule a Sunday tour. At the moment it is quite difficult, it is not cold enough for this time of the year. We do have hardly any snow. For skiing or snowshoeing in our region too little, for walks almost too much.k
It is also good to now, that when M. is planning a stroll, you should prepare for a hike, if a hike is planned, you better pack well, as it could be an alpine trekking,…
So also the tour today, was in the end much longer, then first thought. We not only hiked a couple of hours along a snow covered ridge/crest near the “Grosser Mythen”, a nice mountain near where we live. No, we also added frome here an excursion this beautiful mountain. The south face of the “Grosser Mythen” was bathed in sun and so we hiked half up on the zig-zag path you see in the picture, until it was (imho) not safe anymore. If you are not afraid of high, this is not a difficult mountain. But the trail is quite exposed. And at places the snow was half molten and refrozen to compact slippery ice in the last couple of days/nights. Going up is one thing, but you always have to go down later. And we did not carry the crampons. Still this was a perfect day and we had most of the day a beautiful view.
(Unfortunately I lost sharpness upon upload)
You are a braver woman than I would be and I am a hiker but I don't do ledges and skinny trails. But I would love to be on that mountain with you. What incredible views you got! I would like to view the little village on the lake. Is that where you live? FAV!!
@stownsend Hi Suzie, thanks for the comment and fav. The trail up this mountain is really skinny and exposed. One wrong step can be fatal. Without the ice, I would not have problems, but in this conditions I thought it risky (my husband not, but he did turn around with me). This village is called Brunnen and it is on the Lake of Lucerne. No i do not live there, this is my place. http://365project.org/mona65/2015-plan-b-alb/2015-12-07 Different place, different and smaller lake.
