Actually, I thought that this place at the lake, with this specially shaped tree, would make a good subject for a 4 seasons image. So today I captured, what should be, a second, a spring image. After winter: http://365project.org/mona65/2015-plan-b-alb/2016-03-08 only 3 weeks ago. And then my black and white gene ran riot…. :-)
For tonight, a storm is predicted,… but today the lake was calm and a veil of mist hung over it.
@jamibann Hi Issi, strange, it was suddenly on restricted for friends??? No it should be open again. I'm sorry I had not the time to comment on your beautiful skiing pictures yet. Hope to catch up soon.
@mona65 Thanks for fixing that - it was nice to be able to look at them both. They are both beautiful and so different! Looking forward to seeing the summer version next! :-)
Hi Mona -- how do you adapt a screen shot? I wanted to be able to put all the shots of the same color under each other so as to get the rainbow effect.
@gazdi Thanks Gazdi, for mentioning this picture in the fav for the week thread. What a honor. Best thing that can happen, when an image touches somebody. Can you explain, why it touched you? Is it the picture or a feeling it evoked? Just trying to understand.
I'll try but I'm not a man of words. It is both the picture and the feelings it evoked through the many stories it tells. As an image this is very well composed. That tree could be an example for a bonsai master, shows nobility, wisdom, and also shelter. Embraces and protects the person who is very easy to identify myself with. It is easy not only because of how he stands out but also how his thoughts are portrayed by the mist over the water and the foreground (which many of us would have cropped and how brilliant of you to leave there with minimal texture).
The thoughts are clearly very deep. This is achieved by the foreground mentioned above and also the mountains and the clouds. Can be a satisfaction with one's life and can be problems beyond everyday fights but they are definitely massive, deep, matured thoughts of someone who seems to be summarising several decades of his life. Or hers of course.
So I think it is both the image and the feeling it causes and neither of these in the same time. It is the stories. It is the fact that the person walking there could easily be me, the viewer, whoever I am. It is the force drawing me into the image.
Kurosawa's '90 film "Dreams" has a sequence where an art student finds himself in Van Gogh's paintings. This photo has the power of that part of the film.
Thank you Gazdi @gazdi, for your effort to express this very profound and personal feelings about this picture. I am very touched that you, although you prefer talking in pictures, share these words with me. It means a lot to me.
sorry to have missed this while on the road traveling the last 10 days ... but this is so stunning. Well done and well deserved of the recognition on the favorite fav page!
