Located in the heart of my towns old town this place is a popular public bathing facility steeped in history. The former women's baths (since 1882) is a popular meeting point for young and old. But not today, it was cold and rainy and nowbody was there.
Spectacular scene, Mona! Public Bathing facilities fascinate me for the history, culture, and sense of community. Japan is full of them. So Henry Moore was the sculptor and Edge Knife the designer?
@jyokota@jyokota Hi Junko, thanks for your comment. The Edge Knife Figure is one of a series from Henry Moore. Cast number 3 is the one at our lake side. There is also one in Osaka, cast number 5. Here some details from the artists gallery website. http://catalogue.henry-moore.org/search/edge%2520knife When I remember it correctly you lived in Munich and speak some german. Here are some interesting history facts about Swiss public baths, if you are interested. http://www.badi-info.ch/geschichte.html
@mona65 -- FASCINATING! Thanks for the links and the education on something I didn't know. I do often live in Munich -- and am going to be there two months this summer -- but my German is limited to beer garden menus, mostly, and a few random phrases and signage. The library where I do my research is international and we all speak many languages so English is our common.
