Another one from yesterdays day out in the back country. Here on top on the sunny and exposed hillsides, last weeks snow is gone. But a bit lower in the forest it was softened and refrozen. Good I did bringt the gaiters and the little crampons for the icy patches in the steep parts. Very helpful and good compensation for all the hikes, I just carry and don't use them. This is just after I reached the summit (Rockhubel 1943m), on my way down. In the far back you can see the "sea of fog" that covers all the lower land for days, sometimes weeks; also the place where I live. Some higher grounds look like islands. Down there it is cold and grey. But where the fog meets the clear day, some mystic things happen. (If you wonder, please check out yesterdays picture.)
In the middle is the backside of famous "Pilatus mountain.
Love the composition of this photo. I used to live in the California Valley. In the winter we would get fog for weeks. We would go up to the Sierras to cross country ski to warm up. The temperature was lower, but because the sun was shining, it felt warmer.
