This studio sits in Wildegg Castle a small castle in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland, that is a museum now. The castle dates back on the first half of the 13th century.
Ludwig Rudolph Effinger (1803 - 1872 ) who built this studio, was the last male owner of Wildegg and art was his passion from an early age. But his financial situation was not secure and to make ends meet, he had to work as a high school teacher and engineer. Only in his late life, he was able to concentrate fully on art.
I imagine that he loved the light in the atelier as much as I did when I visited the museum.
