Today we celebrate lover's day in Valencia. In the past, men presented their wife / girlfriend with fruit and vegetables wrapped up in a shawl - in the present, the fruits and vegetables are made of marzipan, and go with the long and the horseshoe pieces. They are eaten for desserts in every house today - they are handmade in every bakery, and they only make them once a year.
@ninaganci Thanks! Yes, the tradition is still going strong. And now it's not only men buying sweets for women, but also women buying them for men, for children... all in all, more sweet for everybody.
@lastrami_ They taste even better! You can buy them in supermarkets, but most people buy them in bakeries, they are handmade and absolutely delicious - and you get to choose the "fruits" you want :-)
