So confused

I appreciate all your input for the last photos. It is most valuable for me to understand these rules.
Last one about rule of thirds. What would you say about this one?
When I was looking for leading lines, damned if I could find any!
Anyhow, this 'trip' to town gave me so many photos I really like, despite any rules. I am considering making a photo album with some of these.

@wakelys Wow! So interesting. Frankly, based on what is written there, I would consider my lamp post and my park alley photos as complying to the rule of thirds. Just that there are some other elements that maybe make the rule less obvious (such as the pole being centered and the leading lines in the alley shot).

A photo is never good if it follows the rules or not. It's good to know the rules and break them when you feel like it.

@pyrrhula Oh, that is such a good rule! I mostly follow it myself. But sometimes I wonder and search and try. And then I get bored and return to my happy accidents.

I look for balance in a photo. This may or may not incorporate some of the “rules”. I agree with @pyrrhula, if you like your image then it is successful. As photo enthusiasts we only have to please ourselves. If someone else likes it that’s a bonus. That said, we all enjoy praise and a carefully crafted image will certainly provide some.
