Today, in the mail, I received something that was supposed to go to somebody else; however they are no longer here to receive it. I'll begin at the beginning.
On Bookcrossing, a lovely lady in the US passed away a few weeks ago from Cancer. She was the most wonderful, generous and beautiful person you'd ever want as a friend; even if you never got to meet her; like I didn't, like many of us Bookcrosser didn't. Well, each year, we have an Ornament Exchange on Bookcrossing. This is where one Bookcrosser organises hundreds of us to exchange an ornament for our trees with another in another country - or in our own. Well, the lady who was supposed to send me an ornament was this lovely lady who passed away - her screen name was oi-reader - and so I didn't receive an ornament until a little later; from the person who was supposed to send her an ornament.
So, this ornament was meant for oi-reader. However, I'm honoured to have received it. It's just a lovely and touching gesture for it to be a dove.... something that oi-reader would have loved.
