Good Pickings

Today was grocery shopping day... and what a great day it turned out to be!

First off, I was out getting petrol for the car when a man walked up to the counter when I was paying and dropped a coupon for a protein bar and said, 'There you go, luv, tt's free... have it, I work for the company.' and walked off. The lady at the counter and I gawped at it for a moment and he was out the door before I could thank him... I picked out the dark chocolate one you see there, and it's in the fridge now chilling down for me to eat later.

Then, I bought some make-up at the chemist. It's 'Thin Lizzy'... great mineral make-up - only $40 and doesn't leave my skin dry or itchy. I needed mascara too, so found one for $12.99... wonderful!

I then found a container for themed events when I go to the markets. It's not too big or small and I can put all my bits in it for when those themed markets are on - like Valentine's Day, Christmas and Halloween - and I have it all in one box!

Then, I was off to the Rochedale Fruit'n'Veggies Market on Rochedale Road. I've never shopped there before because I've never had the need to, or a car. It was a great place. I bought all needed - and my milk and extra virgin olive oil - for around the same price as I would pay in Coles, but the food is in better condition and it's not green and doesn't look like it's been in cold storage. Yes, very fresh.
A young man who worked at the place also asked me why I was vegetarian, it was an honest question of curiosity. I told him that it was a healthier way of eating and the I found that meat has taken on a blander and different taste than it did from when I was a kid; much different. So, I talked to my doctors about becoming vegetarian and took it from there. He was amazed about the health benefits.

Yes, today was a great shopping day. Good pickings indeed!

@wendyfrost Thank you! I find that with my shopping days, so long I get it all done, it doesn't matter how long it takes me. I try to get it done in 3 hours. But if it takes me all day, well so be it!

And I love it when I just let a day unfold, without expectations, without planning it... just knowing I need to get a few things done, and just allowing myself to go with the flow. That's when the most unexpectedly wonderful things happen, right?
