Frustrating New Stitches

I've learned some new stitches at my needlepoint classes yesterday. It took me forever to get the Waffle Stitch (the one on the right in the variegated blue), but I figured out the other one on the left after about four tries at it - which is Basket Stitch.

It does look quite complicated looks like it is all to do with counting threads .

@wendyfrost It did... not that I hate counting threads, but my mind isn't really mathematically minded.
