There's something about them that makes you feel so productive. Perhaps it is because you must work so hard at punching the keys LOL. I do like the old ones too
@digitalrn Also, when I use my typewriter it makes me think more on what I'm writing - unlike a computer keyboard where I can delete what mistakes I've made completely.
Manual typewriters are no longer made - and parts for them are harder to come by. I've yet to order in a new ribbon for this one; which will take time to find - not to mention money.
@bkbinthecity I used this in Melbourne in a hospital for 2 weeks because they wouldn't let me have a laptop. I was awake for the whole time so they could do tests on me (sleep deprivation is most definitely torture!) and I drove every patient in the ward nuts at all hours from my constant typing... but I did get the best ideas at 2am. :D
@bkbinthecity And I have 2 typewriters... this one - which works well - and there's another one I'd love to send off to Tom Hanks so he can fix it up. I have no idea where to start on it. It's so old and is way beyond me to fix it. Tom Hanks collects, fixes up and uses typewriters. I think he'd love my very, very old one. I'd never part with this one as it was my Grandpa's.
