Kathy, excellent hair and dress extraction! I can just barely see some layer matte at places, but most excellent for sure, especially around the lower dress and her left side-hair. I like this a lot! Maybe the only thing I might have done is to put the golden hour tone on top of the entire image including the girl, but that's a personal preference.
@mikegifford I appreciate your feedback!! I am trying to learn Photoshop and am somewhat of a beginner at it. That is why I am happy to hear that there is going to be a group with "assignments". I've had the program almost 1 year but have not done a whole lot with it. I totally agree with putting the golden hour tone on the girl too. What I did is edit your photo in Lightroom first and then I went to Photoshop to add an image to it. I was looking for one of my photos that had slight rim lighting taken during the golden hour coming from a similar direction as the sun in your shot. I tried to blend it all together and warmed her skin a bit too. The biggest struggle I had was trying to get rid of all the green/grey since left from the layering - I'm never sure what to do with the settings when I refine the edge of a layer. So my attempt was to try to clone out some of it but there is too much of it left. Your photo is gorgeous.
@myhrhelper It has taken me awhile, but I now know how to get ride of the halos left behind by layering. You did the right approach by trying to match the extraction background with what you're dropping into, but those nasty "mattes" left over. There is a way to reduce and get ride of them and I'll try to get to that in one of the challenges.
