Took Mum and the great grand minion for a drive this morning and they became my spotters for the day, just as if we were on a safari, a very sedate and safe safari, in a nice climate controlled vehicle with drinks and snacks, but nevertheless that's what it was deemed to be, a safari. Mum having proved her worth on a previous mission as a spotter (spying the army boats on the shores of the coral sea) was made senior spotter and ggm was up front and centre as the newly recruited junior spotter to point out the really good stuff with those excellent young eyes. Rally we did, herons, egrets, swamp hens and cormorants were sighted as were kite hawks and a couple of bunnies scampering across the road while I was busy looking the other way at thistles again. Best find of the day though was this old laughing jack, quietly sitting in the gum tree.
