Pure.

Turning 18 is a big thing in the UK, you can vote, drink, get married without your parents permission and many other things. In the eyes of the law, when you turn 18, you become an adult. Most people look forward to turning 18. They see it as a new step in their life and enjoy the fact that they can go out drinking and get into most clubs without restrictions. They like the feeling of being older and being more ‘adult’.

Personally, I’m not looking forward to it quite so much. I don’t feel like an 'adult'. I don’t feel ready to grow up. Everything’s changing too fast and this seems like a massive step that I don’t particularly want to take. But I have two choices. I can bury my head in the sand and pretend it’s not happening, not let anyone know the date, keep it quiet, not have a party and generally ignore it, or I can go all out and celebrate it properly. Whichever one I choose, it’s going to happen anyway, whether I like it or not.

So, here we go. Today is my last official day of childhood. Tomorrow, I will be an ‘adult’. What that means, I’m not entirely sure, but there we go. I’m not going to hide it, I’m going to enjoy it. I’m going to have party rings in all of my lessons, have a ‘bus party’, laugh, smile and be with my friends. I’m going to have a party on Saturday with a cake, a bouncy castle, jam/chocolate spread sandwiches, pom bears, jelly and ice cream. I am going to enjoy it and make the most of it. Because whether I like it or not, it’s happening and I just have to accept that. So I might as well go all out, because at the end of the day, you only turn 18 once. (and I don’t really have to ‘grow up’ just yet… :p)
Beautiful shot, love the colour and focus :)

This is a stunning shot!! Really nice. As far as photography, you are an adult to produce a brilliant shot like this. Celebrate in whatever way works for you --- as you said, it only comes once.

What a beautiful shot! Happy early birthday Naomi - and remember, being an adult means you get to decide how you live your life. You don't have to drink until you want to and you don't have to act a different way if you don't want to. Age really is just a number - it doesn't have to mean a total change in your life unless you want it to.

First of all, wow, Fav! Secondly, you are not the only one who feels this way. My son is going to be 18 this year, and he doesn't feel like he's ready to take on the world, either. One day at a time, one foot in front of the other. I'm glad to hear you embraced your day!
