Getting Ready

For the weekend
oooh Yummy. Especially all those Cadbury Easter Eggs. Isn't it amazing - our hot cross buns have the cross square on to the bun, whilst yours are diagonal. I never even thought to wonder about the direction of the cross until I saw this image.

@seacreature well spotted Desi. All our hot cross buns are square on the bun too, except these. They're from a local bakery and they use the diagonal cross to show the ones made from spelt flour 😄 I bought some last year and they were delicious.

@bf2016 😊 Are hot cross buns a tradition in America too?

@narayani Bet these taste a lot better than the normal store bought buns. They look nice and fruity and a bit sticky the way hot cross buns should be!

@seacreature they are really good!

I would say that they’re not a big tradition here, at least not in my area. Fasnachts which are eaten on Shrove Tuesday are much more traditional in my neck of the woods.

@beckyk365 I'll have to google fasnachts! Hope they're as tasty as hot cross buns 😄

@bf2016 took the words right out of my mouth!

@narayani they’re basically a plain doughnut. The hot cross buns look alittle more exciting with the raisins and icing.
