Today we say our goodbyes to my husbands grandfather. This photo was taken about 18 months ago long before I knew anything about focusing, lighting, composition, camera settings, the list could go on...... But this despite its many shortcomings photographically sits framed in our living room and means so much to my husband which is why he asked I share it today as it is the only picture we have of the boys with both great grandparents. Photography is so powerful, it helps keeps memories alive.
Lovely post you have written, and the words ring so true. I take a lot of shots which I don't post on here because whilst nothing special photographically speaking they immortalise family life and so will always be special to me.
Wonderful to get a shot with them holding your children. I know I cherish a picture of my grandmother holding one of my nieces. I was still a child when she died so she never met my kids.
