Actually I like it Ruth. Ducks are normally reflected on blue water so I like that here they are against a very different backdrop. The patterns and colours are great. My only comment would be to try and decrease the shadows on the birds a little so you can see them a little clearer. Not sure how you would do that though - in PS or the like?
I really like the reflection of the building. the ducks are a little dark, and perhaps could be lightened? And maybe up the colour saturation so the building colour is more visible?
Oh, I really like the distorted reflections of the windows. Honest critique … hmm I was really drawn to this image straight up, then after reading your thoughts (and others) I'm starting to analyse it and a) wondering whether the ducks get in the way of the windows, b) thinking I actually like that they are quite dark and wouldn't change that myself, but c) maybe the windows get in the way of the ducks??? d) maybe the windows would look better just as an image of the real windows with reflection … and THEN I just go back, look again and think, Oh, I really like this! Perhaps my most useful (?) idea would be to zoom out a little, left and bottom, so that the ducks are more in the top-right corner? Anyways there is an essay for you :)
I love the way the riples made by the ducks distorts the reflections. It does look like they are swimming through liquid metal. Very surreal feeling to the shot.
love it! For the record, this is my 1st posting on the sight which I joined yesterday.
Love this because of the abstractions, the colour balance. I'm a BIG fan of reflections anyway, but these distortions are magic.
Hi, I'm your Get Pushed partner for the week. My challenge to you is to photograph human-animal interaction. Someone playing fetch with a dog, petting a cat, riding a horse, shearing sheep -- an image of a person or people interacting with an animal or animals. Have fun!
I like the surreal look of the melting windows with the unexpected reflection having ducks floating by. The only thing I would do is crop a little from the right and top to move the ducks on a line of third to the right.
@aliha thank you. Already done some of just the windows few weeks past and really liked the location. I liked your essay, sounds like my head! Please feel free to write me more essays, they help!
I love this! All those reflections add such a great abstract quality. I would possibly lighten the ducks a little but it might not look quite right... fav for me :)
@newbank Haha yes my comments get a bit stream-of-consciousness sometimes, mostly I think, "oh," and delete them … but perhaps I will treat you to some more … hehe
My honest thought is that I love the lines and the reflections and feeling of pattern, and it's a fav for me. And thank-you for the lovely comment on my daisy picture!
