Runners

Taken yesterday whilst out a local park that holds weekly running events. Trying to get high contrast again. So little time this week...please forgive me.
@taffy @newbank @888rachel @sullivar @golftragic Hello. I've looked at most of your shots on your projects, will make time tonight to come and comment.

Well, if. You don't mind me saying, I think this is a great shot - really like the dark tress in the foreground, very cool

@newbank @graemestevens In New Zealand, they call trees, "tress". Not to worry, I'm sure we both knew what you meant. And yes, I like this shot too!

Very nice capture. Looks like you were lurking in the bushes waiting for your prey to run past! haha.

nice contrasty shot - nice composition

@gigiflower @newbank I like to keep you on your toes by challenging your grammatical skills. The iPad also seems to think that it knows what I should be saying.

@graemestevens I like to be on my toes because I'm short!
August 10th, 2014
@graemestevens have you never noticed my lack of grammar on 365?
August 10th, 2014
@gigiflower Ah. You're one of them...
@newbank To be honest...no, I hadn't. I shall watch more closely ;)

@graemestevens And proud to be "one of them".......!
August 10th, 2014
@gigiflower As you should be. Without you sales of step ladders and stools would plummet.

@graemestevens worse is when I use my phone....the e rarely works and often my phone thinks I would rather communicate in French....

@shepherdmanswife we were in a wooden area with musical instruments made of wood and recycled bits but then I spotted them running past and happily took shots without a)getting in the way or b) being seen....

Hi Ruth just spotted this on my daily feed - you are tagging yourself and not me so I am not getting your notifications.

This shot to me is high contrast as there is a lot of black against the bright light. It seems to me there has to be extremes between the two colours i.e very black and very white. I have been struggling too with this one but that is what I am now understanding. I really like the shot with you peeping out at the runners!!

@newbank Work have just given me the latest Samsung phone. I can speak to it and it will apparently complete my every command....so far, no. It doesn't seem to like my accent, my instructions, m speaking voice or anything else about me and insists on doing what ever it da we'll likes.what happened to phones being phones?

That is fabulous! Well done!

Wow, this is superb! Love the timing of the people in between the trees and I think it's high contrast but will let the folk who know more say! Fav!

Nice natural framing

This is a great shot. Well captured!

Love the lone runner as the focal point, Ruth. You've sure succeded with the high contrast.

@pamknowler sorry....I had copied it from your photo then forgot toadd you...bit mad doing it with kids on my knee...... Sorry.. thanks for comments.
August 10th, 2014
I would call this sort of high contrast....there is lots of contrast between dark & light ...very sharp & I like the runners going past you as you hide behind the tress...... @graemestevens as soon as you say 'yiss'' your new phone will be totally confused!!

Great action shot... I like how the runners, especially the one alone, are framed by the trees... nice job!
August 10th, 2014
High contrast is great here as it makes the runners pop. It also emphasizes the framing of the runners by the various trees.
August 10th, 2014
Would definitely call this high contrast, nice shot.
August 10th, 2014
Fabulous
August 10th, 2014
You definitely got the high contrast. Fab.

I'll admit that I normally loathe high contrast, the stark differences just makes me shudder (dramatic, I know) but I think that it was used very effectively in this photo and I like it! It helps to strengthen the framing of the runner in the right of the image and makes him even more prominent against the bright background of the grasses. It looks to me like the hand of the runner on the far left is a little blurred (though it's tough to tell on my screen) so you may have needed a slightly quicker time value. Great photo!

Great capture. I would say that this is good high contrast

Nothing to forgive. Young kids deserve to have time spent with them and it is school holidays.

This is great Newbank Lass!
August 10th, 2014
Love the light and shade and the framing effect of the trees.
August 11th, 2014
@newbank I'm not a huge fan of high contrast Ruth, but I think this shot works well with the runners in the middle background and the dark trees in the foreground.

wonderful framing. perfect in B&W
August 11th, 2014
Great comp, nice shot!

Sorry I'm commenting so late...running behind! The framing of this shot is lovely, and the high contrast really makes the runs pop. Nice job.
