Not a sheep, solar panel or grammar lesson. by newbank

Not a sheep, solar panel or grammar lesson.

I walked to the fields of sheep near us, found I'd left my memory card at home and walked back. So here is littlest again. And so the description that would have gone with a sheep photo.

Mummy why do sheep eat grass? Because they like it. Why do they like it? Why do you like fish fingers? I'm a boy not a sheep why do they eat grass? Because they were designed too. Do lots of animals eat different things. Yes they do. Mummy the words and, then, but and so can join sentences together so you don't need to use capital letters, but you cant use too many otherwise you never have full stops. Mummy those things on the tops of houses. Yes. The solar panels. Yes. What do they do? They turn sun into electricity. How do they do that? Ermmm something happens inside them. Like at the power station. Yes something like. What do they do with the electricity then? They might keep some and they might sell some. Mummy can I choose a book please.

The weekly journeys to the library & swimming on a Tuesday are fast confirming my brain is just mush. This week has confirmed that I don't know why sheep like eating grass and I don't know the science of solar panels. I've been shopping this morning getting last few bits for our holiday and thanks to the bargain book shop for just over a £1 eldest now has another in the brilliant range of fact books this one is called Energy Machines. I am equipped now to answer questions on solar panels and the like. And of you've read this far just to say I'm off on holiday, my memory card is off to be packed in my old camera for roughing it on the beach. See you all in 10 days.

Brilliant! You have just made me laugh. Thank goodness mine are past the inquisitive age. One is studying A Level Maths, Physics and Geography so he tells me how everything works. My 15 year old daughter on the hand ..... girly dramas usually including a boy! Enjoy your holiday, will look forward to your images.

@motherjane I'm not expecting much from my holiday "snaps" and "snaps" they will be, My old point and shoot is still on one setting, I cant do anything with it but point and shoot! What a photography snob I sound! Glad to make you giggle. I asked eldest which he liked best maths or literacy. I was correctly informed that it was numeracy and that he liked that best because he likes adding numbers together in his head. At least when littlest starts with the why's I'll be a bit more prepared! It's the how questions that are hardest!

@melston I think I will too!

Make the most of it - by the time he's 14 you'll be lucky to get more than a grunt out of him. He has wonderful eyelashes.

Great portrait and wonderful narrative, it made me laugh too. They do say or ask the most wonderful questions from time to time. Grandmonster Kara , who is 4, yesterday after looking at all my photos, wanted to know where I was in all of them ? Could not seem to grasp that I was behind the camera ? She is normally very clever.

Gorgeous narrative and shot. I think it is wonderful when children ask questions but I hate it when the only question they ask is the one word "Why?"
March 18th, 2015
@creampuff It's a lot more How does x or y work...

There is a wise head on those young shoulders, I hope he continues to ask question and therefore learns so much more.

Fabulous shot and loved the story to go with it. How lovely that your children are so inquisitive. My daughter was just the same, still is and she is now 43 years old. Thank heaven for Google these days. We had lots of books when our girls were young on how things work etc.
Have a lovely holiday.
