teethy pegs mr legs

I'm figuring out if my late night ideas of photographing our "stuff" has any weight to it. We are in the process of finding new homes for lots of baby stuff at present. I am conscious that there is lots of everyday things that are related to our family life that can tell stories about our lives and my kiddies childhood without actually anyone being in the images. The shoes being the first and the toothbrushes being the second... Not that this is real to life. Real to life was pre my cleaning it. Normally after the boys have done their teeth clean before school tops are left off, tooth paste is strewn all over the sink and the toothbrushes aren't lined up.... Anyway I'm thinking this idea through a bit more. Any thoughts?
Lovely comp and POV, love your story. And yes, this does tell a story. Love the children's toothbrushes in the middle.

Nice idea Ruth. If you want to show reality why not try the untidy version? On the arty side, shiny surfaces cry out for strong reflections. Higher contrast is a possibility (I would say that wouldn't I?). I 'm thinking of brighter taps and stronger reflections in the tiles.

I think this is a great theme for you and one the kids will treasure as they grow older. I can imagine it as a coffee table books in their homes as adults -- so very very cool idea!

I like this and I think the messy version will be even better! I agree with David's idea about getting stronger reflections in the tiles. Fav!

If you're making a record of life as it is now, I also think the natural version might be preferable.... Diverging to show the grandchildren in years to come when they're being moaned at for being messy :D x

Something... Not diverging!! Silly phone!

I agree with others about posting the messy version, you could try u unusual pov or more abstract styles as well. Great concept which can be looked back on later in life...TaffyR coffe book idea is a good one.

I love looking at other peoples everyday things......messy version tomorrow perhaps? This reminds me of Goldilocks & the Three Bears for some reason!

Everyday things always tell a lovely story. I think the untidy shot would have been even better

I think this is a marvellous theme. There are so many small tings that make up their childhood, including their cute toothbrushes. If you don't take the shot, it will be forgotten.

Show it in it's un pristine state and then I needn't worry about mine!

I think it is a wonderful idea, and I can so much relate to the "pre-clearing" and "post-cleaning". I am really struggling with taking picture inside the house, as usually, we are not the most organised of the families, and since I don't like it in the real life, I don't find it attractive in pictures. So, for me, the "artsy" mess just doesn't work. But I do wish I could document more of the fleeting moments - my "baby" will be 3 in one month as well!
