There are major roadworks on the main highway through NZ which runs near our village. Two big interchanges are being constructed and the highway will be four lanes instead of two. As part of the work they are moving massive amounts of earth and the people were still busy working away as the sun was setting at nearly 6.00pm this evening.
The fenced-off hillock on the left of this picture is Rangiriri Pa (an old fortified settlement that was used by Maori warriors in the New Zealand Land Wars).
