Plains Pioneer at Night

This statue by Paul Dibble is in Ngatea and was commissioned to mark the 100 year anniversary of the land ballots in the Hauraki Plains. The large, figurative work was unveiled in November 2010. It represents the drain diggers who dug the enormous Plains drain system by hand thus allowing the land to be used for farming.
Very nice shot! Great subject and lighting.
