Eleanor brought her art project home from school so she could work on it this evening. The students in her art class have been producing tapa designs and printing them on paper. Then they've copied their designs onto wood and are carving them out. Traditionally tapa is a decorated cloth originating in the Pacific islands.
As one who's carved "rubber stamps" for years, I'm duly impressed with everyone who carves wood! I love repeatable art! I have photographed the beautiful tapas when I've been in Hawaii and have used them as a textural background in a layered photo when it works! (Could be another reason I run out of time!) Thanks for the follow! I'll do the same and now at least we understand each other!
Boy, I can remember doing that at school.. and that was a loooong time ago. Good to see they're still teaching hands-on art stuff like this in schools... Oh, and nice shot too :)
@alinz@barb_b@deborah63@janewinfrey@nitrogene@northernlad@dide@imaginings@alextheseal Thanks very much and I'll post the finished product although it's so detailed it could take her some time, lol! @rob24@phil_howcroft Thanks very much for your comments and the feedback about the composition. I did think about it and move things around a bit so I'm glad it's OK. @Weezilou Thanks for the follow and for your comment Louise - much appreciated. I read they do tapas in Hawaii too. I can see how they would make good backgrounds.
