Tarty Eyes

This week our FB challenger has given us seven different tasks to complete, one of which is to "focus on eyes", hence the photo.

I laid the mascara and eyeliner on thick to give emphasis and then proceeded to take a gazillion hand-held eye selfies in the very poor downlighting in my living room (hence the need to up the ISO). Trying to get the lighting right, to get both eyes in the shot equally and to get nearly correct focus nearly drove me potty. In the end I gave up and cropped my nose and some of my forehead out of this one. I tried colour and monochrome and eventually chose one of the monochrome shots as the colour was dreadful. I then did some editing to try and help correct the lighting although not terribly successfully as I only have the limited light and shadow settings in Picasa.

To shoot ones own eyes is a huge challenge. Will you also get others. Easier when you can focus behind the camera. Title makes me grin.

@alophoto Thanks Amanda. I only have to do eyes once this week - I think it would have been easier to use someone else, or even the dog, but I felt like I wanted to do my own this time.

@888rachel Thanks Rachel. I'm definitely not a selfie person and don't normally take any so I found this quite difficult. But I think the poor lighting didn't help because it made the shutter speed slower.
