I took Tilly and Rowdy for a walk at Lake Puketirini in glorious sunshine today. I haven't walked here before and it was really lovely. I didn't have time to go all the way round because I had to collect my daughter from a bus so I'll definitely have to go back another day.
I Googled to find out what the barge was and it belongs to the NZ School of Commercial Diving. It has a decrompression chamber and diving bell on it. They run course blocks throughout the year, training approx 50 divers. They have a range of hydraulic tools and underwater work stations and the divers are taught to cut, weld, drill and chainsaw. 80% of trainees that pass the course go on to lucrative work on offshore oil and drilling rigs and other positions.
I asked a fisherman how long it would take to go round and he said about 50 minutes... so that'll be about 3 hours with a camera in hand then, lol!
