The light took on an eerie orange/yellow colour this afternoon and it went quite dark. I stood out on my deck and took a few shots of the sky. Haze from the fires in Australia have travelled across the Tasman Sea to NZ. If it's like this here it must be terrible in Australia. So devastating for them.
Really scary. How far is NZ from Australia? I could not find the information. Thank you for sharing this picture. It’s extraordinary how, thanks to 365, we who live on the other side of the world, can see and understand more closely what’s happening “down under “
@dide I know, it's just awful. @loweygrace Yes, it really is. @purdey I know, over 2,000km. @maggiemae You're right Maggie, the reason is terrible. @peadar Yes indeed, very powerful. @onewing Oh goodness Babs, you have nothing to be sorry for and we're really not affected. It was just a very strange sight for us and for me it was a visual reminder of the terrible fires you are having. @susiemc It was quite surreal Sue, but I can't imagine how frightening it must be close to the fires.
@blueberry1222 Yes indeed, so much loss of life - human and animal. @jernst1779 I guess we're very lucky to only have a change in sky colour but for that to affect us so far away it really brings home how terrible it is. @ingrid_marianna You do seem to have fires quite regularly there. This dramatic change in sky colour really brought home how devastating they can be.
Weird that there is no sign today .. thank goodness .. it effected my asthma last night .. Hate to think how people with asthma are managing in Australia
@julzmaioro Oh no, hope you're OK. There are so many repercussions that affect people and we don't even think about them until someone says about them. It's really windy and less cloudy here so that could be why there's no sign today.
