These are the lower keys of a Bass Clarinet, you need a very big right hand to play this, the little finger has to stretch to the paddle shaped things!
Mull-over-March word "music" for today meant an hour, three different types of clarinet, torches, reading lamps, defused flashes, and much muttering!

@justine_x they are temperamental whatsits, there is usually some teeny little springy bit that stops being springy and ends up doing its job in some important concert with the help of an elastic band!!
