Royal Exchange by nicolaeastwood

Royal Exchange

Last of the photos from my trip to the City last week (photo taken 20th March), this is the inside of the Royal Exchange built in 1752.

See my "other" album for the Grasshopper that lives on the roof (16th March)

For a shot time in the !990's this housed the futures exchange (the one they often show on the news pretending it's the Stock Exchange where traders in coloured jackets trade using a mixture of open out-cry and hand signals!) but now it houses luxury shops and a champagne bar!

Mull-over-March word for the day - Architecture
Love this - would love to visit the champagne bar! :)

We should meet there one day and go photographing afterwards!! :0) I asked the security man if it was okay to take this, and he said "they don't like photos being taken because of terrorists and robbers, but you don't look like either so I'll go for a walk and if you're gone when I get back I won't know will I?!!!?" :0)

Great shot of the architecture and well done with the lighting; it would have been easy to completely blow out the skylights.
