A very lovely friend of mine wasn't feeling herself yesterday, this shot is for her. We had a little cyber-space conversation, and it got me thinking. Thinking of all the things we try to do well…..Mummies, wives and daughters, nurses, storytellers, playmates, shoppers, fancy dress creators, diplomats, chef, sleep experts, cleaners, taxi drivers, judge and jury, toy repair, search and rescue, sports coach, bag carrier, homework helper, hair stylist, banker of last resort, tour guide, counsellor, best friend, biohazard expert, laundry genius and stain removal guru, diary manager, disciplinarian, and world best hug-it-all-better experts……and that's without our jobs and studies!
The pressure to do all this brilliantly with never a chink in the armour is huge, the press, online and social media conspire to make us believe that everyone around us has a perfect pink and rosy life.
It's not - we're all just hangin' on in there by the seat of our pants. Trying hard not to sweat about the little stuff, but get the big stuff right.
I'm not for a moment suggesting that men don't do their bit, they're all busy too I know that, and they have their own pressures. However I know lots of ladies that struggle with self-confidence, thanks I think to those glossy mags and on-line twaddle about what we're meant to look like, cook, earn or be as parents.
Be grateful that we are free to do things as we wish, be educated, vote and speak freely. Then forget the ironing and the cleaning, grab a camera and have a glass of something! :0)
Interesting. I have some of these Russian dolls and would not have thought to use them for today's theme. Mmmmm! Guess that speaks volumes for my lack of creativity!
@aglennc Haha I wish I could take the credit. I was wandering around the house looking for something to use for the theme and tripped over these that my daughter Little D had spread out on the floor!!
