OK, this is the flood plain one year on. The river was dredged and the banks strengthened. The flood plain although still there is not underwater (see green field at rear) and plants have been regrowing at the edges. There are plenty of ducks and other birds and yesterday when I took this photo I saw a kingfisher for the first time in this area. I also spoke to a guy who was fly fishing a little further on, so the river is healthy with activity as well.
