Anyone for tea? by northy

Anyone for tea?

Today was NOT a good shooting day... Played around with a number of things and none came out anywhere close to what I wanted... This is from a couple days ago... not particularly interesting, but I kind of like it anyway...
I like it too! Is it colour popped or was it only the flame and kettle that were not black, white or grey?

@jantan yes - i "popped" the colour (i'm not even sure that's the right term, although up until a few days ago i thought it was!)... tx!m

wow, i really like that one! what did you use to pop the color?

@mathkerr @sheg tx!!

@kcwebbah i used photoshop elements... i don't think i did it "properly" but it seems to work... i could probably say step by step what i did, but i doubt i could explain what it all meant... basically you put an adjustment layer mask (???) on top, lower the hue to -100 so it's black and white and then use the brush over the whatever bit you want to "pop" to let the original colour shine thru... it's a bit counterintuitive, because it feels like i am painting black over that bit, rather than erasing the layer, but like i said, it works!

@northy very cool thanks for the tip! i have a point and shoot camera that does this effect internally but i've never tried to post process something like this. i'll have to give it a try!
