This gentleman fascinates me... he is often to be found on the corner, always dressed in this suit and wearing this hat and preaching the word of God... The doohickey that looks like a shoulder bag is a speaker (he uses a mike - and no kidding, because otherwise he wouldn't be heard, or would have no voice left after an hour!)... I wonder what motivates him, how he supports himself, what his life is like beyond this street corner...
Great shot and find. Is he good or one of those mean, finger pointing ones. I can't stand the ones that yell insults to everyone walking by. They sure don't do a great job representing Christianity by spewing hatespeak.
@shutterbugger Jenn... this is the corner of yonge and dundas (where the eaton centre is)... trust me... you'll find EVERYTHING here! food vendors, buskers, artists, street preachers... you name it... one day i'm determined to get a photo of the street preacher along with the other two religious guys who tend to hang out there... one of whom preaches on the glories of Islam...
@amandalomonaco he's kinda middle of the road... he approaches fire and brimstone, but doesn't quite get there... today he was informing the world at large that we have free will, and that if we land in hell, it's because we made that choice... :)
Have you ever thought about doing a 100 strangers project? To find out about the questions you asked in the description? I think I will try and do it this year.
@38mm interesting... i had to google to find out what this is... and i definitely need to figure out flickr groups... this concept sounds interesting... but i see three, uhm, major challenges (aside from the obvious one that this is so far outside my comfort zone it's probably in the next hemisphere - but hey, i do like a challenge ;p)...
1. i live in the big city... i'm pretty sure talking to strangers is illegal ;p
2. one needs time to do this... my hit and run approach to street photography is born of necessity, not preference... i have so little time!
3. i'm rotten at portraits... really rotten... i'd be terrified of making a total idiot of myself with the picture part!
@northy Well I also said about doing one last year as well, so know what you mean. I live next to what will be the Olympic Village for the sailing events when the Olympics comes here in a couple of months time, so my plan is to do with people who have travelled here. Obviously that might change when the time gets here ;) Also shooting on film I don't have to show them the results straight away :D
@38mm ooooh! the Olympics... oodles and oodles and oodles of photo ops and gazillions of interesting and different people to meet and photograph... ENVYYYYYYYYYYYY
