Urban Sharp Shooter (Who's watching the watchers?)
There was an outdoor concert "thing" at Yonge and Dundas Square today... There were a gazillion photographers there, and I would say a good half of them were "shooting" the audience, not the show... I wish I could have gotten a good shot of this guy in context... unfortunately, all the context shots are kind of blah... this guy is standing on the roof of a structure quite high above the ground, overlooking the band and the audience... he had quite the bird's-eye view :) it makes me kind of crazy that none of those lines are straight, but I think that may be (at least in part) the reality and not just camera tilt...
Oh, and there were several signs around the square that read, and I quote:
Consent and Release
By entering this area you agree to be photographed, and release the {company name} FROM ANY LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH, and grant {company name} all necessary rights in respect of, the worldwide perpetual use of your IMAGE, AS IS OR AS MAY BE EDITED, IN ANY media and device whatsoever now and hereinafter known.
Cool candid shot! Really like the b&w processing.
I totally agree with you @sugarmuser , I experienced that last week and was very confused by the strange rule of not allowing a dslr, but allowing every other form of recording equipment!
I love watching other photographers. Some of them are a lot braver than I in regards to where they'll climb and set up for a shot. :) Like this guy. Nice sign. :)
@ladyjane tx!! i think he was likely paid by the sponsoring corporation to be there!
@sugarmuser@aleksandra there was a whole discussion on this issue not too long ago... not sure if it was an actual discussion thread, or in the responses to someone's photo... but there is someone on 365 who seemed to have some handle on the rules and they whys and wherefores...
@myautofocuslife almost certainly... and i'm willing to bet he has shots of me shooting him... i'm getting brazen! (the sign with the legal mumbo jumbo helped ;p)
@sugarmuser You can take a camera...you just have to be sneaky to get it in. I got my hybrid camera into a Rammstein concert by hiding it in the bottom of my handbag. The bag checker/frisker lady looked inside and didn't see it. I got some great shots. LOL
