years ago i had a friend who really really really wanted a certain job... he finally got an interview... when he arrived for the interview, they sat him down at a table... there was a paperclip on the table... it was a test... he failed...
this is how i am choosing to represent today's mad minute word which is "dree"... as a verb this means to suffer or endure... as in "dree one's weird" meaning to suffer or submit to one's fate...
How was the paper clip a test? So curious. Sounds rather random and odd. Love the depth in this image and the lovely greys. Have never heard the expression to dree one's weird- new vocab for me.
Sounds like a lucky escape to me -- I wouldn't accept a job that considered that to be a useful interview technique, whether I passed or failed. Interviews work both ways.
Nice shot, interesting effect with the shallow depth of field on the highlights.
What a great representation to go with the commentary. The lighting is terrific and the simplicity of the shot works well. What a sad story though, but I agree with Alexis -- a good escape.
@northy too funny -- probably wouldn't want to work for an employer who was that into psychological testing. Love the image and the narrative. Really fantastic!!!
What a great image! The depth of field works so well. Bizarre interviewing technique...not nice. The hiring manager probably read about it in a magazine and thought it was clever.
Its a great photo, great interpretation of the word. And I agree with everyone that you friend had a lucky escape. Obviously there weren't interested in employing creative people.
That's a test of the interviewers' perceptions - I would not be interesting in hiring someone who could sit in perfect stillness for no good reason unless I was looking for a meditation teacher - being unable to resist "fidgeting" could indicate a drive to be active and occupied - therefore denoting a willing worker - see? a case of different pov's!
That said, you have an awesome pov and a winning dof here and I love that the paperclip has obviously been "fidgeted" with!
Love this photo! I own a professional search firm and I hear all sorts of strange stories. In the past especially it seemed that people tried bazaar things to test the candidate. They can get in real trouble now days if they used questions that really isn't pertenant to the job. Most the time I hear and see the strange things from the candidate side.
I'm very creative, But if I touched something on someone else's desk, I would be able to feel my mother slapping my hand from 800 miles and 30 years away. I'm creative, but very polite.
