anyway, at lunch time i went in search of tunnels and here is one... doesn't really qualify for the challenge, but i kind of liked it anyway and it's all i've got for the day... :)
@tigerdreamer yeah - i was going to wax on about that, but it got too long... long story short, i think i'm too pragmatic and logical to believe in hope... ;p
It makes me wonder, what's in the shadows? She looks like she is walking away from you, even when I looked at it large. It works for me, there's hope or light at the end of the tunnel, just don't get too distracted by what may or not be lurking in the shadows. Nice one Northy.
This COULD BE "hope" ...he is approaching the end of the darkness, about to burst free into the light! Now, to kill all your hope, haha...I just posted an homage picture that mentions/emulates your style. I hope you do not mind!
I'd say this is "hope" more for the viewer (or, in other words the photog) than for the person in the light. I'm sure that if you put this up in an art gallery with 'Hope' as the title, most people would find a story and interpretation to it. This reminds me of that one shot of mine that a friend wanted to buy because it'd help her fight depression. I didn't originally see it like that, but she did and it was awesome. Aaaanyway, great shot! ;)
@humphreyhippo tx HH! I did quite like the light along the wall as well - although in hindsight I think perhaps I shld have toned it down so it doesn't compete as much w the person in the doorway...
@pennyp tx :). It was candid... This is a high traffic area - lots of comings and goings... The challenge was to catch one line person without someone else photo bombing !!
The strong light at the far end and the lines all take my eye that way, but really it wants to focus on that wonderful light on wall and ground. So there is a tension.... I like it a lot!
This is so powerful and hope is the most pragmatic of feelings - it's absence is the foundation of despair - I love the light - the way the figure draws the eye to the prospect of limitless space - of liberation - the deep indigo tones - pure genius.
I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder!
