this isn't quite as slick as i wanted it to be, but after playing on photoshop for several hours (i was working on a couple other things as well), i am now out of ideas and stupidly tired...
this is my selfie for the one night stand challenge set by Jerry (@orangecrush)...
the concept is a struggle for me... i am not in the least religious, and never have been... and while i deplore the evil that has been done over the centuries in the name of one god or another, in many ways i envy those with faith as i see it bringing them comfort and community...
but i cannot find my way to a faith of this nature... i think there is too much vulcan logic in me... too much that is rational... ;p
anyhoo... when the theme was announced the REM song started rolling thru my mind... it's been almost week now and it's time to exorcise the tune cooties... so... "that's me in the corner..."
Well done selfie (better than my silly reflection!). I appreciate your comments about faith. It's strange but in some ways faith, like a whim, is far more logical than some of the other things we put our faith in. It's really a matter of how we put it all into perspective.
I love this! It is so reminiscent of some religious artwork I've seen depicting those in the mists of darkness :-) I get that song stuck in my head sometimes....
Love the definition of 'Logic' as an overlay! Very clever exploration of faith/logic. We're a house full of similar thought in this regard. Just because we have no religious faith doesn't mean we are devoid in Spirituality though!
It took me scrolling back up to this picture several times to realise it's in colour too! Brava!
@mzzhope@quixoticneophyte tx! but actually, technically, it's not really in true colour as i used one of the topaz restyle presets... don't ask me which one tho'... and i played with the sliders anyway... but i guess it's not technically black and white either ;p
I love that song -- lost mine years ago and never missed it or even looked for it. I think of myself as a lapsed druid. Anyway, I love the picture -- we have plenty of company in our corner. Fav.
Started singing the song immediately. And then read your words - felt like I had written them myself as I feel the same way about religion - I see the belief and comfort it gives others but just don't find a response in myself. This photo resonates that so well.
@fishy well - lyrics are available everywhere on the net so it would be pretty easy to cheat ;p as it happens, i've known most of the lyrics forever... there are some bits, tho', that i probably only know from looking them up some time ago!
This is a great concept. Well done.
I started a discussion..."A reply to Logic" it is geared at this...it makes an interesting discussion...not meant to "pull you to religion". Hope you read and enjoy it in the manner it was meant.
