like i said in another shot, i completely fell in love with the alleyways of the old city of Dubrovnik... that and the laundry hanging out of all the windows... i seem to have an absurd number of laundry shots... most of which are horrible... this one is slightly less awful than the rest...
i am ridiculously behind... and i have no idea when i will catch up because work, kids homework and kids sports have once again taken over my life...
all those whites, so uniform in sizes the way they were hanged, then suddenly a pair of cut-off jeans! you wonder, were they in the same load? shudder!
There's an innocence about this that belies the city's history. I really like how you've captured the feeling of the city. We were there just before their war when it was still Yugoslavia and it was heartbreaking following the destruction. Your photos bring such a sense of normality to it all today.
This is another image which keeps me intrigued for a long time. The subtle pops of color all around the monochrome scene make me happy. The pegs, the peeking green plant and of course the orange chairs vs the blue jeans.
considering how much laundry we do I am sure this is quite proportionate. I love this shot! everything about it. Need some tips on processign for it looks HDR-ed in the best way possible!
I'm with you with the narrow streets and alleyways thing, I always linger by them when I have a camera with me. This looks like an image from a Dickens novel, great urban image.
@frida hey Frida... definitely no HDR... i have to confess i'm no longer entirely certain what i did... all processing was done in lightroom... i think i did basic processing on the whole thing... with a bit of extra contrast... then for the laundry i upped exposure and clarity a bit... the building behind the laundry deep in the shot was weirdly flat, so i think i added some extra contrast there... but really, it was just a lot of playing around with the sliders...
Did you know that after the Serbs damaged the city of Dubrovnik the first thing they repaired was the roofs which they did for photographic purposes?
@pennyp i can completely believe that... the roofs were stunning... i have many pictures although i'm just not that happy with them...
