Love the story once I read the title/caption. I initially thought you were playing with shadows and hard contrast and didn't realize that the chess piece was't standing near a shadow but the edge (or a shadow that represents an edge)
So glad to hear you can never die! So creative. I'm curious. It appears that the light is from directly above the queen, but how did you get it to fall off on the left?
@bill_fe totally forgot about this question until this morning for some reason... the queen is actually standing on the edge of a table, so the light is falling on the floor - too far away for the camera to really register - although editing took care of some of that... i'd actually wanted to try and create a sense of depth but it didn't work out that well...
