this week @emrob challenged me to try low contrast (and subtle!!) photography... this is an excellent exercise because while i am very often impressed with low contrast work of others, i always struggle to make it work for me...
anyhoo, here is my first go... there is a smidgeon of true black in there, but only a smidgeon... and no true white... to muddle it more, i added some texture (using a shot of a distressed looking tile)...
it's a bit random and abstract, but gotta start somewhere, right?
@emrob - it occurred to me, after posting this, that i'm not entirely certain what "low contrast photography" really is! guess i'd better do some research before taking another run at this :)
I do like how abstract it looks and I'm glad it's a good challenge for you - it seems like you've done pretty much everything! I think low contrast to me is more muted, not as black-white contrasty. At any rate, I love the texture you added to this too. Very cool!
Look to me as if you have a full range of tones but the gradations are not harsh, the blacks are not starkly contrasted with the whites. I wouldn't know if it is low contrast... just words, not as communicative as pictures! Anyway I like the composition even if I haven't clue what I'm, looking at!
