squibbly squabbly

i'm really not quite sure what this means, but one of my kids says this all the time and for some reason, i think it fits this picture...
It sure does- and that sounds like a saying my grandkids would get a kick out of!

Great image, love it :)

Oh, cool POV. Is this one of the Marilyn buildings?
September 4th, 2016
I love that description, that is fun to say. Wonderfully cropped.
September 4th, 2016
awesome perspective!
September 4th, 2016
super shot
September 4th, 2016
It fits perfectly.
BTW -- the menus on the Sony are enough for me not to go with that system. And the focal choices were bizarrely unhelpful.

Great POV!

@taffy Olympus customization is not the most intuitive either.
September 4th, 2016
Wow, nicely seen.

Looks like a slinky. Cool
September 4th, 2016
wonderful building and I really like your take on it.
September 4th, 2016
Wow...super perspective, lighting
September 4th, 2016
yes, that building is ver squibbly squabbly :D great shot
September 4th, 2016
@gardencat yes it is :)

@frankhymus @taffy I agree that Olympus isn't hugely better than Sony... I'm kind of resigning myself to the fact that this may be a reality in this age of technology... I do find the Olympus a bit more cooperative... Meaning that I feel like I am somewhat more in control of it than I was of the Sony... And I am very happy to have more lens options with the micro 4/3 mount :)

Awesome shot

@frankhymus if I just wait on mirror less with multiple lenses, what is a good high quality point and shoot that has a viewfinder, wide range for focal length, and shoots raw? Does one exist? And not cost over $1000?
September 4th, 2016
@taffy Well, the Sony a6000, but you know the difficult menu system, and good lenses are expensive and somewhat limited, the kit lenses are barely adequate.

One other manufacturer to look at, Panasonic/Lumix, a Micro Four Thirds shop, but the GX8, might be worth your looking. https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-lumix-dmc-gx8-review

But we seem to be at a technology plateau at the moment, the initial breakthroughs have been made, and we await the next generation. Boy, if only Sony could give more attention to the user interface of their products. :(

@taffy The Lumix user interface is, for me anyway, more like the classic Nikon DSLRs and more comfortable, than many of the mirrorless crowd.
September 4th, 2016
It sound like this looks so it must mean this, excellent shot
September 4th, 2016
Nice one!
September 4th, 2016
@taffy for point and shoot there is the Sony rx100 series... I have the mark iv, but if you go w mark iii I imagine it will be almost as good and cost less... But... It's still a Sony and the zoom only takes you to about the equivalent of 50mm... I'm out of love with mine... Wanna borrow it for a bit? Seriously, I was just this morning contemplating trading it in... But I'm such a pack rat I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it... Loaning it to someone for an extended period of time would be a good starting point :D

@northy That's a wonderful offer, Mira! Let me think about it a bit. I have a Nikon P7700 that doesn't have a viewfinder and is about to go on a long-term loan to a friend so I know what you mean. It's too good to just give away, but viewfinder requirement is one of my deal breakers. She had an early Lumix one so with what Frank said, I may see about trading (depending on which model it is) if she still has it. I THINK a feature I want is a telephoto that would work for scenes like sailboats in the lake and urban wildlife. So am not sure the sony 50mm equivalent would work, but it might be sufficient for city street shots, etc and architecture. Just thinking aloud here...I think Frank and you are both on target in thinking that the technology for what I want just doesn't quite yet exist, but it's getting close. Lightweight, viewfinder, WA to telephoto capability, changeable lenses, crop sensor or full frame...lightweight, lightweight, lightweight! I'll follow up re the P&S offer once I've thought this through a little more. don't want you to go to the trouble if I know I won't end up using it a lot.

@northy @taffy The Sony RX100iv is expensive, and for sure if you don't like the a6300 interface you'll despise the ones on the RX100 (anything). I have one, and the pop-up EVF doesn't quite work for me for stills, it won't adjust all the way for my astigmatic eyes. It does video superbly, that's what I bought it for, super slow motion at 960 frames a second and you can shoot that for 2 seconds, and decide whether to click at the end or the beginning of the two seconds you want. Watch a balloon explode or a water drop. It has a very professional video support, and I'M pleased with it for that. For stills, well not so much. Take up Mira's offer and see what you think.

I love the image., but I do wonder what makes an architect decide to design something like this - it's a hangover in concrete!
September 5th, 2016
Excellent, I love it when skyscrapers are a bit different.
September 5th, 2016
@vignouse hahaha! tx Richard... these buildings are absolute landmarks... i suspect they were built for bragging rights as much as anything else ;p
