woke up at 4:45 and took myself down to the lake for sunrise for the first time in forever... you can see the sun peeking over the buildings on the left... there were quite a lot of people there... not crowds (there was still plenty of room for social distancing), but more than i've normally seen at that hour... i expect it had something to do with the equinox...
Hi Northy, I really love your style and have enjoyed going through some of your recent photos, your penguin always makes me laugh when he shows up and I'm really impressed with April's single subject of the window, the photos are amazingly varied!
As I'm your get pushed partner this week, how do you feel about the theme of 'looking down' or a birds eye view photo?
Well worth getting up early........wonderful lighting!
Northy I’m looking at switching over to a mirrorless camera and noticed that you were using the Olympus E-M5MarkIII. How do find this camera?
I was looking for camera that is lightweight and tack sharp, is it good for shooting birds in flight?
Any information that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
you've asked whether the images are tack sharp... i think the images are great, but i rarely go for sharpness (i tend to declarify and de-texturize in post processing) so i may not be the best judge...
you also ask about shooting birds in flight... i don't do this often enough to judge... i think it would do just fine, but note that i would use my pro version 40-150mm f/2.8 lens and it is not light... regardless, i often hike with this lens and the weight isn't an issue for me... (as an aside, i have a cheap version of the 40-150 and was not happy with image quality which is why i got the pro version...
@radiogirl i think the battery does ok... i always carry a spare, but haven't really had to use it unless i've spent the day at the zoo where i am shooting non-stop...
and yes - go to a store and see how it feels! i was originally intending to buy a fuji, but it didn't feel right in my hands which is why i went with the oly...

that said, a couple things to mention...
the first is that a thread was posted recently noting that olympus is getting out of the camera business so its future is a little uncertain...

hope that helps!
Too bad about Olympus being sold it does sound like a great camera!
How do you find the battery life?
It’s such a big decision and expense to change over I’m trying to make the right decision for me.
I’ve been reading all the reviews from the different Mirrorless Cameras, now I want to go into a camera store and see how they feel!
