The Watchers by northy

The Watchers

Ok - so it's not terribly flattering - but hey, they were cheering for the other team... and i did like their intent focus ;p

I expect I should have cropped this tighter (assuming I should have even bothered to post it at all), but I do kinda like the sneakers...

Another photo from yesterday's sunrise shoot in my main album:

Work is going nutty crazy so very limited time to be out and about... I will need to get creative in order to BE creative ;p

Thank you all for the views, lovely comments and favs on the photos I posted yesterday... I did like those ones quite a bit, so it's nice to know others enjoyed them too :)
I love the progression of height here and the snickers, perfect in grainy b&W!

Great b&w

This is an inside shot? Perhaps it is basketball? Their body language speaks of losing but they are all together and it makes a great shot!

Very focused.

They definitely look focused!!

So, you were watching the watchers? :-D

@maggiemae hockey... and their team won...

@frida had to work with the graininess as i was using super high ISO to catch the action as my kid was playing... just kinda took this shot on a whim... there seems to be a certain number of defined "stances" amongst parents and coaches watching the kids play ;p

@cromwell i have zero attention span... so... uhm... yeah! shoulda been watching the game... but my kid wasn't on the ice at this point ;p

Not much cheering going on for the opposition.....that's good, right? Nice candid.

Great shot Northy, I was surprised to see this was shot digital, it has a real film feel to it for me!

@jsorensenart tx Jake... as for the film feel, that would be the high ISO and film noir processing talking to ya! ;p

@northy in my film days i used to shoot T-Max 400 and push process it. The feel of this photo made me a little nostalgic for my old Canon A-1 and some developing chemicals:)

I like the crop here...I like the shot!

You weren't even in their sights.... what a great shot Northy :)

I like the crop and the shot - I don't think it needs changing. Wonderful how oblivious to you they are.

Like the hand on shoulder

They look sort of somber in their intentness. It's a very interesting human shot.

Love the concentration.

surprised this isn't film, it has that classic grainy film look. nice.
October 10th, 2012
Love the graininess - they're really wedged together, aren't they?
October 10th, 2012
I like the framing. I would have liked to see it from a step or so frame left to see them all a little more fully....that being said, it's still great catch!

I agree with others who think this is cropped well. You get a much better sense of how tall each person is by showing their entire bodies. That, plus showing more of the background tells us more about the venue. I also like the little screen thing in the BR quadrant; it adds something, counter-balance, perhaps, to all the heads at the top of the shot. This is an interest study :-)

@shadesofgrey tx! i actually liked the angle (meaning i did this on purpose) because i thought it created a kind of eeriness factor... so it's good to get the feedback in terms of how it is seen by others...

@chewyteeth haha ha... @jsorensenart said the same thing... i was using high iso to shoot my kid playing on the ice and thought i would play into the graininess... i actually contemplated reshooting with lower iso and decided not to :)

I totally understand the angle now! I wasn't thinking eerie but if you had stepped to the left, it would have had a typical crowd view, this feels way more voyeuristic (sp?) and eerie. I didn't read closely enough into what you were trying to convey.
