The end of aday: home sweet home

Posting here partly because it IS the shot I took for the "aday" thing (hoping it works for whatever themes they've got going - I forgot to check again last night!)...

And also posting because this is sooc, and I would love to have some feedback as to composition and light...

(my apologies for posting so many in one go... not my usual modus operandi, but it was a rather happy photo day ;p)
I love the perspective of this photo. If I had to pick one thing to change, it might be to somehow soften the light at the end of the "tunnel," just beyond the second flower pot, but it is quite beautiful, as is. I love the textures.

Nice composition.

Hmmmm, composition wise I would have straightened slightly (seems to be leaning a little to the left). And have gotten a bit closer to the wall on the left so it goes to the bottom of the frame. Also as I love my DOF I would have cranked the Aperture value down to its lowest value (widest)

PS I missing the number plate shots

@38mm i think my psyche leans! seriously... everything looks canted to me no matter what... i thought this was relatively straight, but yeah... looking at it again, on a tilt!!!! gaaaah! and good point about the bottom left... f/5.6 is the lowest my kit lens goes... i'll have to see how my macro lens would manage the shot... it goes down to f/2.8... srsly considering a nifty 50 or some such with larger AV but not there yet!

as for the number plate shots, i'm getting pickier... have one for tonight, which is ok, but nothing special... did you see the one i posted on flickr last night?

@northy I think with straightening different people look at different things. In this shot the little path light and bushes are straight, but to me the dominate features are the walls which are a little out. This could be a good example of staying away from the photo for a while, as was being discussed before?

I'm a big fan of fixed focal lens, they take a while to get used to but after a couple of weeks you don't even miss not having a zoom. Obviously there is the expense, but a lens will pretty much last a life time if you look after it so it's a pretty good investment.
