Jack Layton was the leader of the Canadian New Democratic Party. He died of cancer on August 22, 2011. He was much beloved amongst the left leaning in Toronto and he was remembered at City Hall this week - hence all the scribblings along the wall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Layton
I don't see the link between the shot and it's title, but shame he died when there seem to be so few left of the left these days! Fabulous shot by the way!! The composition with all those curves and lines would be great anyway, but her position on that ramp (together with the fact that she is on it!) makes it extra special. I love it! Another FAV!
@yrhenwr tx David :) this is city hall and Jack Layton was a city councillor before he became the leader of the federal NDP... they held a memorial at city hall earlier in the week and people scrawled memorial messages along the inside of the wall on either side of the ramp... if you look very carefully you will see one of the messages is "miss you jack"
