As I was sitting in a hide at Attenborough Nature reserve I heard a sound I hadn’t heard for a long time, two birds black with white on the wings flew over and landed on a little island a long way off, Oystercatchers, I didn't see the bittern but the oystercatchers made my day; they did not stay long.
