The notice inside reads
Listed historical building
built as a summerhouse.
Associated with the poet Henry Kirk White
The basement was used as a mortuary for river drownings.
Burnt out 1976
Restored as a preserved structure by community industry 1980
It stands in St Wilfrids churchyard high above the River Trent which is over the wall to its left
