In 1890 the aviaries in Nottingham arboretum were built by Mr Bardill and stocked with 500 birds. The most famous resident was “Cocky” the sulphur crested cockatoo who died 8th March 1968 reportedly at the grand old age of 114. The information about Cocky’s death is in one of the cadges whose present inhabitants seem equally dead even the “flying” ones.
